Carlingford!

Monday the 15th of September, the whole Transition year group took a trip to Carlingford. The buses were leaving a local petrol station at 7 in the morning. I had to be up at 5.30 am to get ready and check my luggage for the final time. I brought two bags, which in my opinion was way too much. Although most of it was food!

Food!
It took a good 2 hours to get there but it flew in the chatter and banter on the bus!

We stayed in Carlingford Adventure Centre in the little town.

I was in a room of 8 bed but there was only 7 of us in the room. The activities really stole away a lot of our energy and left us exhausted the next morning.
The first day we were split into two groups; A & B. These were for our activities.

Activities:

Monday:

  • Large Boat Rafting and a swift visit to the "Kings Waterfall" (which was in a tunnel??
  • Team work games (of which my favorite was "Communication breakdown" a crawling maze in pure darkness.)

Our mentor for the land activities on Monday was pretty cool, his name was Rory (WHATS THE STORY RORY?!) He told us to call him Yogi, and therefore we became Team Yogi.
Long story short, he wasn't so fond of us at the very end, I think our energy was unbearable!

We also had night line at 8 pm, for this we hiked up the mountain into the forest and the mentors made a pathway by tying ropes around trees. We were then blindfolded and were told to follow the path using our hands on the rope to guide us. That was pretty cool!
Midnight strolls, Nightline.

Tuesday:

  • Canoeing and a turn on the water trampoline.
  •  Laser tag in the forest. (what a hike to get there!)

Laser Tag

Ms.Hughes brought us around the the Chinese to get some food after night line. We had to run back to our room because we didn't want anyone to tell us we couldn't eat it up there.

Midnight Snack!

The purpose of this trip was to break barriers and help make it easier for us to gel together as a year group, in other words to made new friends.
And it did.

I really enjoyed the trip.

Stunned but ready to run!

Hi Everyone!

After various attempts to set up this blog, I finally have the green light!  Transition year, although a lot more relaxed than previous 3rd year, still came in with a roaring start leaving me slightly disoriented.  I was absent the first two days because I had fallen ill and maybe being thrown in after the introductions had been made is the result of my “get up and go” opinion of the year.

The classes this year are named after Disney princesses; Ariel, Aurora and Belle.

The reason? "because life is a fairy-tale!"

I am aware that not all schools give their classes name in way St.Wolstans does but I feel it makes the classes more personal and gives a us a sense of pride and togetherness, which ulimitley can make school a lot easier.
Happy enough with my new class, Class Aurora.

Thanks for reading, just a brief intro but there will be more exciting posts later!
